More than ten years after Mo’Nique’s fallout with Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey, she remains steadfast in her desire for a public discussion.

In a heartfelt interview on The 85 South Show podcast, which aired on October 31, the Oscar-winning actress and comedian openly addressed her ongoing feud with both media giants. “I’m still waiting for Tyler Perry. Still waiting for Oprah Winfrey to say, ‘Let’s have this open public conversation,'” she stated. She added, “Don’t run. Don’t run, because that may be able to heal our community.”

For Mo’Nique, this isn’t merely about getting closure; it’s about seeking accountability. The tensions among the three began over the 2009 film Precious, in which Mo’Nique starred and won an Academy Award. She contends that after she declined to promote the movie for free during awards season, Tyler Perry and Winfrey branded her as “difficult.” According to her, this label cost her 12 years of career opportunities. “Y’all messed with my livelihood, which messes with my family,” she said on the show.

Mo’Nique has never shied away from expressing her feelings. For years, she’s advocated for reconciliation and noted that Tyler Perry had even promised her a public apology back in 2016, but she is still waiting. “Forgiveness doesn’t mean silence,” she emphasized, explaining that while she has made significant progress, she’s not prepared to quietly brush aside what occurred. “My knees don’t buckle,” she remarked, embodying the strong spirit that has characterized her career since the beginning.

In the conversation, Mo’Nique reflected on the deep impact the fallout had on her, affecting not just her career but also her personal life. She mentioned that the pain she experienced even delayed her healing process regarding her relationship with her children. Nevertheless, she has held her head high and maintained her strong voice throughout.

Earlier this year, she also pointed out some “discrepancies” in Tyler Perry’s remarks made during the late Angie Stone’s funeral, indicating that she still yearns for an honest, open resolution.

Although Hollywood has often labeled Mo’Nique as “controversial,” many of her fans view her as a fearless truth-teller. As someone who stands her ground, even when facing powerful figures.

So far, there hasn’t been a public response from either Oprah or Tyler Perry.
