Amy Luciani and Dwight Howard are once again in the middle of a highly public breakup after the former NBA star filed for divorce following a weekend of social media accusations.

The filing comes after Amy alleged that Dwight was struggling with drug use and claimed that Child Protective Services had removed their child from their home.

Dwight, a former Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando Magic star and NBA Hall of Famer, filed for divorce on Monday, March 9, according to reports. The move came hours after Amy, whose legal name is Amber Howard, shared a series of emotional videos online discussing issues inside their marriage.

The couple married in January 2025, but their relationship has faced turbulence throughout the year. Less than six months after their wedding, Amy initially filed for divorce. She later withdrew the petition in August.  Dwight also filed for divorce at one point, but later withdrew his filing as well.

In the latest court documents, Dwight reportedly stated that the marriage is “irretrievably broken.” According to reports, both parties are now living in what the filing describes as a “bona fide state of separation with no hope of reconciliation.” The case also includes mutual restraining orders between the two.

The restraining order bars both Dwight and Amy from harming one another or any of their children. It also prevents either party from selling property outside the ordinary course of business, canceling insurance policies, or disconnecting utilities.

The latest developments followed a series of social media posts from Amy in which she spoke about the state of her marriage. In one video, she said she believed the relationship had placed her in a dangerous situation.

“My marriage has landed me in a very dangerous position,” Amy said in the videos. She claimed that Child Protective Services had taken her stepdaughter and said authorities had visited their home multiple times in recent months.

Amy said police and CPS had been called to the home three times in less than three months. She also said that despite concerns from people around her, she had initially tried to remain committed to the marriage.

She explained that after her first attempt to file for divorce, people close to her encouraged her to stay in the relationship because of the vows she had taken. According to Amy, she returned to the marriage but eventually concluded that the situation had become too serious.

“It’s not even about me, it’s about the kids,” she said in one of the videos.

During the recordings, Amy also held up a large plastic bag containing a powdery substance along with a small vial. She claimed the alleged drugs were the reason she said she was “losing her marriage” and accused Dwight of having a substance problem. She also alleged that Dwight had coached his 12-year-old son to cover for him regarding the alleged drug use.

The accusations surfaced shortly before Dwight Howard filed his latest divorce petition.
