Nene Leakes triumphantly returns to NBC Universal after dropping her discrimination lawsuit against the company.
Leakes’ return to NBC Universal marks a significant milestone following her departure from the network in 2020. NeNe Leakes initially cited failed contract negotiations as the reason for her departure.
However, in April 2022, she sued NBCUniversal, Bravo, production companies True Entertainment and Truly Original, and executive producer Andy Cohen over working conditions.
The lawsuit alleged that the network had “fostered a corporate and workplace culture that has permitted and tolerated—if not encouraged—racially offensive and insensitive conduct, statements, and actions by their employees.”
Leakes went on to say that the company’s lack of diversity in its corporate structure has contributed to insensitivity towards people of color, claiming that the Real Housewives franchise is “racially segregated” and criticizing their treatment of diverse show stars.
Leakes’ suit specifically targeted former RHOA co-star Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s alleged “racially insensitive” behavior, though she was not named as a defendant.
Three months after filing a lawsuit, Nene Leakes quietly dropped the case.
“All Parties consent and stipulate to the foregoing dismissal,” the document read. “No party will seek recovery of costs or attorneys’ fees in any submission to this Court.”
However, in a turn of events that few saw coming, Nene has now rejoined forces with NBC Universal in what appears to be a fresh start for both parties.
“Swipe: Back To Business. Catch me live from Emmy’s Sunday hosting the after-red carpet post-show on E! AT 11 pm ET,”
Leakes’ appointment as host of the post-show is a significant move because it marks her return to the network and demonstrates her ability to thrive in high-pressure, high-profile situations.
The Emmy’s Red Carpet Post Show will give Leakes a platform to showcase her charismatic personality, wit, and fashion sense—all she became known for during her years on RHOA!
