Nia Long and Ime Udoka ended their 13-year relationship after the former Boston Celtics head coach allegedly had an affair with a female coworker.
During an exclusive with rapper Jeezy, the 51-year-old finally addressed her split from her longtime fiancé Ime Udoka.
While discussing a recent separation from his wife of two-and-a-half years, Jeannie Mai, Long disclosed how she is coping after getting back on the “singles wagon”.
The actress revealed how the “really public breakup” was a wake-up call.
A year after the Celtics announced that Udoka had been suspended for having an improper relationship with a staff member, Nia Long called them out in a Tweet.
She retweeted a clip of Blay’s 2022 appearance on the “We Can Do Hard Things” podcast, where she said she thinks white women’s concerns often take priority over those of Black women.
Nia captioned her post, “Where was this level of awareness a year ago @celtics???”
In the conversation with Jeezy, Long revealed, “I had a really public breakup recently. It was a wakeup call for me in the sense of like, ‘Okay, you’re going to do this on your own and you’re going to be fine and you’re not going to worry about what anyone thinks and has to say.’”
Nia Long and Ime Udoka have been engaged since 2015 and had one child, 11-year-old Kez until their parting in 2022.
When news of his infidelity broke out, Udoka issued a statement apologising to all involved.
“I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down. I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision.
“Out of respect for everyone involved, I will have no further comment,” Ime Udoka concluded.
But Nia Long remained unperturbed about Udoka’s alleged unfaithfulness.
“I don’t believe another person can break anyone up. I don’t buy that,” Nia asserted.
