Nicki Minaj Exposes the Industry’s ‘Demonic’ Secrets: Says Artists Get Blacklisted For Refusing Rituals

by Grace Somes

Nicki Minaj is opening up about what she describes as the darker side of the music industry, sharing claims about industry blacklisting, powerful gatekeepers, and the challenges artists face when they refuse to comply with certain demands.

During a recent appearance on The Bryce Crawford Podcast, the rap superstar reflected on her journey in music and revealed how her view of the business changed over time.

Speaking candidly with host Bryce Crawford, Nicki said that when she first entered the industry, she believed success was rooted in camaraderie and mutual support among artists. According to her, the environment initially felt encouraging and collaborative.

“In the beginning, it was a lot of fun, honestly. We had so much fun rooting for each other (and wanting each other to win). I thought that’s how it would always be,” Minaj said.

However, she explained that her outlook shifted as she became more familiar with how the business operated behind the scenes. The Trinidadian-born rapper said she began noticing what she viewed as vindictive behavior from influential figures within the industry.

“I started realising people are really vindictive in this industry… ‘Oh my gosh, what did I sign up for?’” she recalled.

Nicki went on to claim that some powerful individuals in the music business treat artists as commodities rather than creative professionals. According to her, those who refuse to follow certain expectations or who no longer generate the profits desired by key decision-makers can find themselves facing professional obstacles.

She alleged that influential figures can use their power to make artists “almost invisible” within the industry, limiting opportunities and making it more difficult for them to earn a living.

“If you don’t abide by their rules or put money in their pocket, they would actively try to stop you from making money to feed your family, or from prospering in the industry you love,” she said.

The Grammy-nominated artist also spoke about what she believes is a culture of exploitation that exists within parts of the entertainment world. She encouraged artists to remain vigilant and protect themselves while navigating the business.

“There are a lot of predators in this industry that think artists are stupid. You have to have your guard up,” Minaj said. “It started feeling like everyone wanted to stick their claim into human beings like they were property, and if you didn’t abide by their rules, they would actively try to stop you.”

The rapper then reflected on her own experiences, suggesting that personal disagreements with influential figures can sometimes have broader consequences.

“1 person didn’t really like me, and they were able to use their influence to make people go against me because they couldn’t get certain money from me,” she claimed.

As the conversation continued, Nicki described her journey through the music business as more than a professional experience. She said she came to view it as a deeply personal and spiritual battle that she had not anticipated when her career first began.

Nicki described the experience as “constant spiritual warfare,” explaining that she felt unprepared for what she encountered behind the scenes.

“I wish I kind of knew sooner that this music industry was such a spiritual experience because I felt like I brought a knife to a gunfight,” she confessed.

The interview has quickly generated conversation online.
