Observant fans spotted 12-year-old North West had what appeared to be a new dermal piercing on her middle finger during a recent trip to Rome. Photos from their vacation on August 23 show North sporting a black corset, a skirt, and knee-high boots, with her striking electric blue hair styled in two long ponytails. Her accessories included bracelets, glasses, a heart-shaped purse, and, of course, that eye-catching finger piercing that drew significant attention.

For those who may not know, dermal piercings are not your typical piercings; they are also known as microdermal or single-point piercings and are inserted directly into the skin without the standard entry and exit points. Experts have cautioned that these piercings can be painful, susceptible to infections, and difficult to heal, especially on areas like the hands, where jewelry can easily get caught.

Critics were quick to point out a red bump near North’s piercing, leading some fans to speculate that it could already be infected. One concerned observer bluntly stated, “Oof, that looks like it’s infected!!” while another remarked, “It already looks rejected and painful … Poor girl.”

Meanwhile, while Kim wowed in a black silk bodycon dress during the vacation, the stylish moment between mother and daughter ignited a heated debate about parenting online. On platforms like Reddit and TikTok, many questioned why Kim would permit her daughter to get such a piercing at such a young age. Comments included sentiments like, “She’s 12. Wtf is Kim doing?!” and “Who the f– lets their 12-year-old have piercings? And who the f– pierces a 12-year-old?” Others noted that many parents wouldn’t even let their children get their ears pierced at that age.

The outcry grew even louder when fans noticed North showcasing her piercing in a TikTok dance with Kim, where they danced to Destroy Lonely’s “If Looks Could Kill.” While some defended North’s freedom to explore her style, the majority of comments agreed that the piercing was too risky and inappropriate for a 12-year-old.
