Nurse And Retired U.S. Army Officer Found Incapacitated In Her Car After She Went Missing for 3 Days

For three days, the family of Anita Elizabeth Gould lived in fear, refreshing their phones, calling hospitals, and searching for answers.

On Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed what many had hoped for: the 56-year-old mother of four was found alive, though incapacitated, inside her vehicle after what officials believe was a medical emergency.

Gould, a San Antonio family nurse practitioner and retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel, vanished after failing to board a scheduled flight to Georgia on Monday, Nov. 10. Her disappearance triggered a widespread search across the region.

Authorities said Gould was located in her car and immediately taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

“She appears to have suffered a medical episode,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement thanking the public for sharing her photo and information.

Her daughter, Kayla Miller, was the first to raise alarm after Gould stopped responding to messages late Sunday night, Nov. 9. By early Monday morning, when Gould didn’t make her flight, the worry escalated into panic. She was officially reported missing the next day.

In emotional posts shared on Facebook throughout the search, Miller pleaded for information and urged people to adopt a habit she now considers life-saving: share your phone location with loved ones.

“You never know when something like this will hit close to home or your home,” she wrote, a reminder that even capable, accomplished adults can find themselves in sudden danger.

Gould’s long military career—marked by multiple commendations, including the Legion of Merit—painted the picture of a woman defined by discipline, resilience, and service. Her medical emergency underscores how quickly vulnerability can strike, even for those who have spent a lifetime caring for others.

As the community awaits updates on her condition, her daughter’s warning continues to circulate widely: technology can’t prevent every crisis, but it can help families find answers faster.

For now, her family is simply relieved that they have one.
