A political dispute is intensifying in Minnesota after a Republican state lawmaker accused U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar of failing to cooperate with a state-level inquiry into a major pandemic-era fraud case.
Kristin Robbins, who chairs the Minnesota House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee, has formally requested documents and answers from Omar after the congresswoman did not appear at a scheduled committee hearing.
The hearing focused on the federal MEALS Act and its connection to the broader “Feeding Our Future” investigation—a high-profile case involving the alleged misuse of COVID-19 relief funds intended for child nutrition programs.
In a letter dated April 22, Robbins criticized Omar’s absence, stating that lawmakers and the public were “disappointed” by her failure to testify.
Robbins has asked the congresswoman to provide communications, including emails, text messages, and meeting records, related to her advocacy for expanded access to federal meal programs during the pandemic.
The request also includes inquiries into Omar’s interactions with the Minnesota Department of Education and individuals or organizations later implicated in the fraud case.

The investigation centers on Feeding Our Future, a nonprofit organization accused by federal prosecutors of orchestrating a scheme that allegedly diverted hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded food aid.
