Garcelle Beauvais, Lela Rochon, and Loretta Devine are set to headline the inaugural installment of the “Terry McMillan Presents” film series on Lifetime, which is scheduled to debut this summer with a title, cast reveal, and premiere date.

According to Deadline, the first film, titled “Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted By Love,” will air on Lifetime on Saturday, August 17, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

Beauvais not only stars in the film but also serves as an executive producer. Joining her in the cast are Vaughn W. Hebron, who also co-produces, along with Lela Rochon, Emmy award-winning actress Loretta Devine, and Donna Biscoe.

In the film, Beauvais portrays Ava, a celebrated chef residing in Europe, who abruptly returns to South Carolina to care for her elderly aunt (played by Biscoe) after a fall. Upon her return, Ava encounters Luke (Hebron), a charming driver two decades her junior. Their shared passion for food, family, and fun quickly sparks a deep connection.

As Ava and Luke navigate their budding relationship, Ava grapples with the realization that Luke may still have much to experience in life.

Balancing her career, her overseas life, and her growing feelings for Luke, Ava must ultimately decide between love and what’s best for her own future.

The film marks a reunion for Rochon and Devine, who previously starred together in Terry McMillan’s iconic 1995 film “Waiting to Exhale.”

McMillan, renowned for her bestselling novels adapted into successful films like “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” is introducing a lineup of branded movies within the “Terry McMillan Presents” series, focusing on the love and lives of African American women.

“When Lifetime announced the partnership in February, McMillan expressed her excitement, stating, ‘As women, we can be messy. We can be complicated. We can be so many things,'” Deadline reports. “Life is never tied up in a bow, so it’s thrilling to be back in business with Lifetime, which allows women to tell their own stories in an authentic way.”

“Terry McMillan Presents: Tempted by Love” is executive produced by D’Angela Proctor for Undaunted Content in association with GroupM Motion Entertainment.

In addition to McMillan and Beauvais, Richard Foster and Chet Fenster of GroupM Motion Entertainment serve as executive producers. Taliah Breon directed the film from a screenplay penned by Tamara T. Gregory.
