In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Chanell Crosby, a 35-year-old mother whose son and brother were both tragically killed, was discovered dead on July 19, 2024.
Her body was found in an abandoned car near the West End MARTA station, approximately nine miles from her home in DeKalb County, Atlanta.
Crosby was reported missing on July 18, with authorities last having seen her on July 14 between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.
The alarm was raised when civilians noticed a foul odor emanating from the vehicle and alerted the police. The Atlanta Police Department confirmed that Crosby’s body was located in the back seat of the abandoned car.
The circumstances surrounding Crosby’s death remain under investigation by the Atlanta Police Department.
This tragic incident follows a series of devastating losses for Crosby’s family. Nearly two years ago, her 13-year-old son, Jamiren Crosby, was found murdered behind a townhome on Parkway Trail in Lithonia on September 19, 2022.
His death was ruled a homicide, and no arrests have been made to date.
Additionally, on April 20, 2022, Chanell’s brother, Darrio “Polo” Giles, was found shot and killed in an apartment complex on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW.
Giles’ death was linked to a robbery attempt, as he had recently won approximately $4,000 in a slot machine, which was missing when his body was discovered.
