Cherry and Sherry Wilmore, known as @everybodysfavoritetwins on social media, are making waves in their community with the launch of their non-profit organization, Cherish Times Two (@cherishtimestwo), dedicated to supporting current youth in foster care.
The twins, who grew up in the foster care system in Houma, Louisiana, are committed to giving back and empowering others facing similar challenges.
During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the sisters shared their inspiring journey, detailing how they entered the foster care system at six years old.
Despite their parents losing custody when they were nine and ten, they stressed the positive experiences they had with their foster families.
“We had great foster parents,” they stated, highlighting the love and support they received.
For the past four years, the Wilmore sisters have been working tirelessly to support foster children, even before officially launching their non-profit last year.
Their organization has donated 56 laptops to foster youth who either graduate from high school or obtain their GED.
“We understand that statistics are low for you to graduate on time,” they explained.
The twins were motivated to create this initiative after their own experiences; Volunteers of America gifted them desktop computers, but when they expressed their college ambitions, the organization upgraded them to laptops that ultimately helped them succeed academically.
Reflecting on their foster care experience, the twins noted the valuable lessons learned from their foster parents.
“They taught us that foster care was a chapter in our life, not the story,” they said, acknowledging the importance of resilience and growth.
Their story is a testament to the power of perseverance and community support.
“No matter what happens in life, your obstacles don’t define you,” they urged, encouraging others to rise above their circumstances.
In recognition of their contributions, Jennifer Hudson surprised the twins with a luxurious six-night stay at the Fairmont Mayacoba in Mexico during their birthday celebration.
