Former talk show host Wendy Williams made a stylish and uplifting appearance Tuesday, July 1, at Columbia University, stepping out in support of her longtime friend and fashion designer Mel Maxi — and looking fabulous while doing it.
Dressed head-to-toe in a custom black-and-white ensemble — shorts, a tucked-in top, and a Yankee cap — Williams confirmed that the look was crafted entirely by Maxi, except for her sneakers.
The moment was caught by TMZ, and the star is also recorded giving her designer pal his flowers.
“This is amazing, okay? This is totally designed by you — with the exception of my sneakers,” Williams told Maxi in the clip. “He did this specifically for me… this is really hand done. That’s what he does for a living. I’ve known him for a very long time.”
Maxi was reportedly preparing to lecture at Columbia, and Williams was there to show her support in person, a rare public appearance that thrilled fans and fashion watchers alike.
Fans Cheer Wendy On
Throughout the video, Williams appeared to be in high spirits, waving to passersby and engaging with fans. One admirer yelled out, “I love you, Wendy!” to which she gleefully responded, “Thank you!”
Williams’ appearance, full of grace and glamor, was a welcomed sight for many followers who have watched the media icon’s health and legal struggles unfold over the past few years.

Legal Drama: Kevin Hunter’s Lawsuit
The sighting comes just days after her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, filed a $250 million lawsuit aiming to dissolve the guardianship currently overseeing Williams’ affairs.
In court documents, Hunter alleged that the arrangement “has become a weapon, not a shield,” claiming Wendy is “confined against her will” at an assisted living facility operated by Coterie.
“It is punishment — pure and simple,” the lawsuit reads, further alleging that Williams is denied meaningful contact with her loved ones and access to her own phone.
However, according to Page Six, Williams has no involvement in the lawsuit and downplayed her ex-husband’s efforts during a recent phone interview with TMZ, calling it a possible “money grab.”

Wendy’s Comeback Energy?
While the legal battle wages on behind the scenes, fans are hopeful Tuesday’s glowing appearance marks the beginning of a public comeback for the beloved television icon.
Known for her unfiltered commentary and vibrant personality, Wendy Williams’ legacy continues to capture hearts — whether she’s dishing hot topics or just showing up to support a friend.
