Woman Arrested for Alleged Role in Murder of Grandparents, Faces First-Degree Murder Charges

A 34-year-old Broward County woman, Jalisa Hill, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder for her alleged involvement in the deaths of her grandparents.

According to police, Hill is accused of collaborating with her ex-boyfriend, Maurice Newson, to carry out the double homicide.

The case gained attention after an elderly couple, identified as Hill’s grandparents, was found shot to death in their home. Their red Ford Fusion was reported missing, sparking a police search for the vehicle.

Two weeks after the murders, a tip led authorities to a tow yard, where the car was recovered. Police later discovered that Newson had sold the vehicle for $200 shortly after the killings.

Further investigation into Newson’s activities led to his arrest. After examining financial transactions, authorities linked Hill to the crime when they uncovered that she had sent Newson $1,000 following the murders.

While the motive behind the killings remains unclear, authorities noted that Hill had been living with her grandparents at the time of their deaths.

Hill had allegedly expressed plans to renovate the house she expected to inherit, despite not being the legal owner of the property at the time.

Adding to the suspicions, Hill voluntarily underwent a polygraph test, which police say indicated she was untruthful when questioned about her involvement in her grandparents’ deaths.

Investigators also claim that Hill submitted an insurance claim for the stolen vehicle but did not inform the insurance company that its rightful owners had been murdered.

Hill now faces serious charges, and both she and Newson are awaiting trial as investigators work to uncover more details in this tragic case.
