Woman Blesses JetBlue Flight with Holy Oil Before Boarding Amid Growing Plane Safety Concerns

by Gee NY

A JetBlue passenger traveling to Florida took matters into her own hands—literally—by anointing her plane with holy oil in a bid for divine protection.

Desiree Salter shared a now-viral TikTok video showing herself applying the blessed oil to the aircraft’s exterior before boarding. In the footage, she is seen drawing a cross with the oil while offering a short prayer for a safe journey.

“In Jesus’ name we pray…Amen,” Salter captioned the video, which quickly garnered support from viewers who appreciated the extra layer of spiritual security.

Concerns Over Plane Safety

Salter’s prayerful precaution comes amid increasing anxiety over airline safety following a series of aircraft incidents. From commercial airline crashes to private jet accidents, travelers have expressed heightened fears about flying.

The fatal crash of an American Airlines flight that collided with a Blackhawk helicopter in Washington, D.C., in January further fueled concerns.

Many have also raised questions about the Federal Aviation Administration’s competency under the Trump administration.

Given the recent events, many social media users found comfort in Salter’s actions.

“At this point, I don’t blame you,” one TikToker commented.

Another added, “Amen, that would ease my mind [for real].”

Keeping the Faith

Salter later explained in a follow-up video that she obtains the anointed oil from her church, where her stepfather serves as a pastor. She uses it during her travels for peace of mind and continued her ritual on her return flight home, placing her entire hand on the plane to say another prayer.

“With some of these planes that have been crashing and some weird stuff that’s going on, I just want to pray for it and get everybody here safe,” Salter said. “And God kept us safe, God kept us covered, and the devil is a liar.”

While some TikTok users joked about her actions, many supported her commitment to faith and safety.

In a time of growing uncertainty in air travel, Salter is determined to stay prayed up—and blessed—in the skies.
