Woman Shot Dead By Boyfriend After Facebook Live Argument Turns Tragic In Murder-Suicide

A Georgia community is reeling after a shocking domestic dispute that played out on Facebook Live ended in the deaths of a young married couple.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and multiple sheriff’s offices are now piecing together what led to the tragic murder-suicide that has left a child orphaned.

Zaria Khadejah Carr, 27, was found unconscious at her Twin City residence on the evening of June 13 and was later pronounced dead, according to WJCL. The GBI says her husband, Shamarcus Jameal Carr, 36, had fled the scene in her 2021 Dodge Challenger, prompting a statewide alert.

Just over an hour later, around 11 p.m., law enforcement located the vehicle in Wayne County. Officers attempted to stop Shamarcus, but authorities say he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The devastating chain of events followed a volatile Facebook Live session where the couple aired deeply personal grievances—cheating allegations, financial instability, and disturbing threats of violence. Viewers of the livestream were left horrified as tensions escalated.

“He getting mad because he don’t like the truth coming out,” Zaria said in what may have been her final recorded words.

While autopsy results from the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office are still pending, the online community has been quick to mourn—and criticize—the highly public breakdown of a relationship that has now claimed two lives.

“Individuals don’t even take the time to realize that they brought a little baby girl into this world,” one viewer wrote. “Now both her parents are dead by their poor choices.”

The GBI is investigating Zaria Carr’s death at the request of the Twin City Police Department and Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation into Shamarcus Carr’s death.

The tragedy has reignited conversations around domestic violence, mental health, and the dangers of airing interpersonal conflicts on social media platforms. It’s unclear what interventions, if any, were attempted prior to the fatal encounter.

Authorities urge anyone experiencing domestic violence or emotional distress to seek help before situations escalate. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).
