Jamaican sprint sensation and the world’s fastest woman, Elaine Thompson-Herah, has reassured fans with a positive update following her distressing exit from the NYC Grand Prix on Sunday due to an apparent injury.

The five-time Olympic gold medalist was seen limping after the race, sparking concerns about her condition.

Thompson-Herah, celebrated for her incredible achievements on the track, made history at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by winning gold in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay, making her one of the few athletes to achieve three Olympic golds in a single outing.

Her remarkable 10.54-second 100m run in 2021 solidified her status as the fastest woman alive, second only to the legendary Florence Griffith Joyner’s world record of 10.49 seconds.

However, the 2024 season has posed challenges for Thompson-Herah.

She finished last in the 100m at May’s Prefontaine Classic and experienced another last-place finish at the NYC Grand Prix.

The sight of her limping off the track raised alarms about her fitness ahead of the Paris Olympics in July.

Despite these setbacks, Thompson-Herah took to Instagram to share a message of resilience, posting a picture with the caption:

“Chin up you will be ok.”

The reigning Olympic champion in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay is focused on her preparations for Paris 2024.

Teaming up with new coach Reynaldo Walcott, she aims to be in peak form for the upcoming Games.

In a recent interview with Athletics Weekly, Thompson-Herah expressed confidence about participating in her third consecutive Summer Olympics.

Athletics Weekly highlighted her sentiments on their X handle (formerly Twitter), where she stated:

“I’m definitely confident, not super not over but confident and I don’t want to, you know apply too much pressure on myself as a reigning Olympic champion”.

Thompson-Herah is fully aware of the challenges ahead but remains determined to replicate her Tokyo success in Paris.
