Alena Analeigh Wicker, a 13-year-old prodigy, has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing acceptance into a medical school program just a year after graduating from high school.

With over 20,000 followers on Instagram, Alena excitedly shared her accomplishment with her online community.

Expressing her joy on Instagram, Alena posted a picture of her acceptance letter, accompanied by the caption:

“I’ve worked so hard to reach my goals and live my dreams. Mama, I made it.”

This announcement was met with widespread admiration and congratulations from her followers.

The Burroughs Wellcome Scholars Early Assurance Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Heersink School of Medicine, a partnership between the medical school and HBCUs across Alabama, extended this early acceptance opportunity to Alena.

Confirming the news, the school spoke about the rigorous requirements for acceptance and matriculation.

Despite her exceptional achievements, Alena remains grounded, describing herself as “still a normal 13-year-old” in an interview with the Washington Post.

Currently enrolled in both Arizona State University and Oakwood University, she is pursuing separate undergraduate degrees in biological sciences, showcasing her exceptional dedication and time management skills.

Alena’s passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) led her to establish “The Brown STEM Girl,” a platform dedicated to empowering and educating girls of color in these fields.

Inspired by the legacy of Katherine Johnson, a pioneering African-American mathematician at NASA, the Brown STEM Girl Foundation reflects Alena’s commitment to inspiring the next generation of innovators.

Reflecting on her daughter’s remarkable journey, Alena’s mother, Daphne McQuarter, remarked on her gifted intellect, evident since her early years.

“Alena was gifted,” she recalled, citing her daughter’s advanced reading abilities and natural aptitude for learning.

As Alena continues to inspire others with her passion for STEM and her groundbreaking achievements, her journey serves as a beacon of hope and empowerment for aspiring young minds around the world.
