Vice President Kamala Harris is showing the world she’s got moves!

On Saturday, Madam VP graced her presence at the 50th-anniversary celebration of hip-hop at her Washington, D.C. home.

Scores of celebrities were in attendance, including Common, MC Lyte, Roxanne Shante, Lil’ Wayne, Fat Joe, Jeezy and many more. High-profile politicians also attended the event, which included Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia, Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland, and Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri.

When Q-Tip’s chart-topping hit Vivrant Thing began to play, Harris was captured in a video dancing along as the lyrics played:

Imprinted on my mind every minute / Make my plans and you always in it / It’s such a vivrant thing / Vivrant thing, a vivrant thing / And even though we both fly / Give each other space and not the evil eye.

While at the event, Harris took time to pay respect and give flowers to the music genre, which has played a substantive role in American culture.

“Hip-hop is the ultimate American art form,” Harris said. “It tells the stories that don’t make the news. But as the great Chuck D once said, rap is Black America’s CNN. And by telling the truth, hip-hop calls us to action.”

The event was in partnership with the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective and Live Nation Urban.

The vice president, who pundits believe will make a 2028 presidential run, has been an active voice for Black people across the nation and has used her platform to reach Black voters for the upcoming 2024 election cycle.

“Every day, Vice President Harris is fighting for the people,” Harvey Mason, Jr., chief executive of The Recording Academy, said at the event. “She’s fighting for our people. Our vice president was rooted in hip-hop, and it’s essential to who she is.”
