Lauryn Hill is making waves on social media after delivering an unforgettable surprise performance at her high school reunion.
The legendary singer and former Fugees member took her former classmates by storm during a recent event at Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey.
A Reunion to Remember
Hill attended her high school reunion earlier this month, where she decided to treat her former peers to an impromptu performance.
According to Billboard, the surprise set included some of her biggest hits, and footage of the performance quickly went viral on social media.

Multiple clips from the event were shared online, showcasing Hill’s electrifying performance. TikTok user Donna Stewart Schiele posted a video on August 11 that captured Hill performing “Ready Or Not,” a classic hit from her time with The Fugees. Schiele also shared footage of Hill performing her iconic solo track, “Doo Wop (That Thing),” and the powerful ballad “Ex-Factor.”
Schiele’s caption highlighted the excitement of the night:
“My high school is better than yours. The CHS/MLK club had an amazing reunion #chsmlkreunion weekend!!”
Another attendee, Jazmine Johanna, posted a reel on Instagram that encapsulated the spirit of the event. Johanna’s caption read:
“#chsmlkreunion Part 2 People traveled from out of state to love up on their village. It was simply amazing. Still speechless from @mslaurynhill giving us an impromptu performance. This reunion was SO good for the soul ✨ COLUMBIA HIGH SCHOOL ❤️🖤🤍>>>>”
A Notable Absence
Hill’s surprise performance comes amid recent headlines about her and The Fugees. The group, which includes Wyclef Jean and Pras, was slated to embark on a national tour starting Aug. 9.
However, the 18-date tour was abruptly canceled just days before its commencement, leaving fans disappointed and curious.
