Cori Broadus, the 25-year-old daughter of hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg, is shedding light on her battle with lupus and the emotional challenges it has brought.
In her heartfelt E! special, Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori & Wayne’s Story, released on Dec. 5, Cori opened up about her journey, including a harrowing battle with depression and a suicide attempt during the pandemic.
A Lifelong Battle with Depression and Lupus
“Since I was little, I’ve always been depressed,” Cori revealed in the special. Diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease, she described the toll it took on her, saying, “Being sick with lupus and going to doctors all the time, it was hard. When COVID hit, I was in a dark place.”
In 2021, Cori faced her darkest moment, attempting suicide. She credited her fiancé, Wayne Duece, for helping her find hope again.
“I’m lucky to have Wayne, but we’re all going through something. It will be okay, and it does get better with time,” she shared.
Finding Strength Through Creativity
Despite her struggles, Cori turned her pain into purpose by launching Choc Factory, a cosmetics line that celebrates empowerment and resilience.
“I thought, ‘Okay, I gotta get out of this,’ and then I found lip gloss,” she said. “Choc Factory isn’t just a product; it’s a philosophy. It’s about uplifting and empowering women to share their stories.”
Health Progress and Renewed Optimism
Cori also shared an update on her health, revealing promising news about her lupus journey.
“I’ve been off my meds for a few months, and my labs look better than ever,” she said. “I’m still tired, but my body doesn’t ache as much.”
Through her openness, Cori hopes to inspire others facing similar challenges.
Her journey from despair to hope serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of seeking help and embracing creativity as a form of healing.
