Hollywood’s youngest boss, Marsai Martin, just used her platform to send some much-needed love to Love Island USA stars Olandria and Chelley.
Marsai Martin is standing ten toes down for her girls, and the internet is loving it.
The Black-ish star and Hollywood producer recently took to Instagram Live to uplift Love Island USA fan favorites Olandria and Chelley, who have been dealing with a whirlwind of online drama since their time on Season 7 wrapped. And when Marsai speaks, the culture listens.
“I love me some Olandria and Chelley,” Marsai said with warmth. “I see them. I feel them. I just pray for them at this time because I could imagine coming out of the villa, and it would just be crazy.”
Olandria and Chelley became two of the most talked-about cast members this season. Both adored and unfairly dragged. Fans watched as Olandria blossomed in the villa, connecting with fellow contestant Nicolandria and gaining the nickname “the glue of the villa” from her castmates. Her bubbly energy and natural leadership won hearts, but the internet hasn’t always been kind.
After the show, things took a dark turn. Olandria revealed in a Variety interview that she’s faced racist attacks, microaggressions, and even death threats. One particularly disturbing meme even compared her to George Floyd, an image that left many viewers stunned and disgusted.
“It’s disgusting, to say the least,” Olandria said. “I don’t understand how you take a love show and make a comment like that.”
Chelley, who quickly became known for setting clear boundaries and standing on business, also caught major heat. Online critics labeled her a “mean girl,” while others completely overlooked the poise and elegance with which she carried herself. After her emotional exit from the show with fellow islander Ace, Chelley chose to take a much-needed break from social media.
“I send my love to everybody,” Marsai continued. “Look, I’m rooting for everybody Black.”
As the backlash dies down and Olandria and Chelley find their footing outside the villa, they’ve got a tribe behind them, and Marsai Martin is leading the charge.
