Democratic U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett said last week that she plans to launch a new leadership political action committee aimed at supporting candidates nationwide as she prepares to leave Congress at the end of the year.
Crockett, who represents Dallas in Texas’ 30th Congressional District, revealed her plans during an appearance Wednesday on the syndicated television show Sherri. She said the PAC will be called FIRE, short for “Fuel Individual Rights Everywhere,” and will focus on voter education and candidate support across the country.
“I’m going to go on tour across the country,” Crockett said during the interview. “We are going to educate people about what it is that elected officials can do, should be doing, and what they’re doing wrong.”
The announcement marks Crockett’s first major public statement about her political future following her loss in the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate earlier this year. Crockett was defeated by Democratic State Representative James Talarico of Austin in the March 3 primary contest.
Crockett has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding longtime Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson in Texas’ 30th Congressional District. Before her election to Congress, she represented Dallas in the Texas House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023.
During her time in Washington, Crockett emerged as one of the Democratic Party’s most visible and outspoken lawmakers. She gained national attention through sharp criticism of President Donald Trump, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, and former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, with several heated exchanges and remarks spreading widely online.
Crockett also became a prominent Democratic campaign surrogate during the 2024 election cycle, appearing at events and rallies on behalf of former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris.
With her new PAC and planned national tour, Crockett appears poised to maintain a high-profile role in Democratic politics even after departing Congress.
