Former Vice President Kamala Harris is once again at the center of a national political debate after reportedly calling for sweeping judicial and electoral reforms following a Supreme Court ruling impacting the Voting Rights Act.

During an emergency call with Win With Black Women on May 13, Harris laid out what supporters describe as an aggressive roadmap to counter what she views as growing attacks on voting rights and democratic representation in America.

According to political law attorney Nicole Robinson, Esq., Harris’ remarks went far beyond standard Democratic talking points.

“Kamala Harris joined an emergency call with Win With Black Women to respond to the Supreme Court’s decision destroying the Voting Rights Act,” Robinson said in a video posted to Instagram. “Our girl laid out a full reform agenda.”

Among the proposals Robinson highlighted were expanding the US Supreme Court, imposing 18-year term limits on justices, creating multi-member congressional districts, abolishing the Electoral College, granting statehood to Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico, and encouraging Democratic-led states to redraw congressional maps more aggressively.

Robinson also said Harris called for greater accountability for Supreme Court justices during confirmation hearings, specifically naming Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett over allegations they misrepresented their judicial philosophies under oath.

“She said that justices should be held accountable when they allegedly misrepresent their judicial philosophy during confirmation hearings,” Robinson explained.

The attorney framed Harris’ proposals as a direct response to what many Democrats and voting rights advocates see as an increasingly conservative judiciary reshaping election law, redistricting, and civil rights protections.

“A 6-3 supermajority Supreme Court is allowing white supremacy to run rampant in this country,” Robinson said in the video.

The comments come amid growing national tension over voting access, congressional district maps, and the future of the Voting Rights Act, which has faced repeated legal challenges and limitations in recent years. Critics of the current court argue that recent rulings have weakened federal protections designed to prevent racial discrimination in elections.

Robinson argued that term limits could reduce the long-term ideological impact of any single president’s judicial appointments.

“Term limits would prevent any one president from reshaping this entire country for a generation,” she said.

She also defended Harris’ reported support for multi-member congressional districts, saying such a system would better reflect the nation’s demographic diversity.

“Multi-member districts would actually reflect the diversity of the country,” Robinson added.

The proposals, however, are likely to face fierce opposition from conservatives, who argue that expanding the court or restructuring electoral systems would amount to partisan power grabs designed to benefit Democrats politically.

Still, Harris’ remarks have energized many progressive activists who believe structural reforms are necessary to protect voting rights and counter what they describe as increasingly anti-democratic trends nationwide.

The conversation also underscores how the 2026 midterm election cycle is already shaping up around broader questions of judicial power, election law, racial representation, and the future of American democracy.
