Three generations of women have been arrested and charged in connection with the horrifying death of a 7-year-old girl on Long Island after prosecutors say the child endured months of alleged abuse, torture, and medical neglect before dying from a massive untreated infection.
Authorities say young Jor’Dynn Duncan was rushed unconscious to a hospital on Dec. 29, 2025, where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy later revealed the child had suffered approximately 90 injuries across her body, according to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigators determined the girl died from a severe untreated infection caused by sharp force injuries.

The disturbing findings triggered a months-long investigation that led to the arrests of 50-year-old Emily Kelly, 75-year-old Barbara Renner, and 24-year-old Elyssa Seymore.
“This was not an alleged single act of violence. It was months of alleged systematic cruelty and sadistic abuse, meticulously documented,” Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said during a press conference. “The child was allegedly left to die while these defendants watched her deteriorate. No child should ever endure such horror, and we will seek justice for Jor’Dynn.”

According to prosecutors, Kelly, identified as the fiancée of Jor’Dynn’s incarcerated father, gained full custody of the child in April 2025 after the girl had initially been placed in her care in December 2024.
Authorities allege that extensive evidence recovered from Kelly’s cellphone documented repeated abuse beginning in January 2025. Prosecutors say the material included evidence of prolonged restraint, untreated physical injuries, and deliberate failures to seek medical attention.
Officials also allege the abuse was hidden from outsiders for months.
Court records indicate Jor’Dynn missed nearly 40 days of school between January and June 2025. Prosecutors claim Kelly repeatedly provided false explanations for the absences in an effort to conceal the abuse.
The allegations against the other two women paint an equally disturbing picture.
Authorities charged Renner, Kelly’s mother, with manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. Prosecutors allege she was heard singing in the background of one video while the child struggled.
Seymore, Kelly’s daughter, faces charges including unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child. Prosecutors allege she participated in discussions about covering up the child’s injuries.
Kelly was arraigned on charges including second-degree murder, unlawful imprisonment, and reckless endangerment.
The case has sent shockwaves through the Bayport community and reignited conversations about child abuse detection, school absenteeism warning signs, and the systems meant to protect vulnerable children.
In a statement, the Bayport-Blue Point School District said it remains “heartbroken and profoundly saddened” as the community continues processing the tragedy.
All three women are expected back in court on June 23.
The investigation remains ongoing.
