Following the release of Beyoncé’s latest album, Cowboy Carter, rumors of Jay-Z’s infidelity have once again flooded social media platforms.
The Grammy-winning singer’s rendition of Dolly Parton’s classic hit, “Jolene,” features modified lyrics that seem to hint at personal struggles within her marriage.
In her revamped version of “Jolene,” Beyoncé adopts a tone of strength and defiance, warning the titular character against interfering with her relationship.
With lines like “We been deep in love for twenty years” and “I’m still a Creole banjee b—h from Louisiana / Don’t try me,” Beyoncé seems to address the long-standing rumors of Jay-Z’s alleged extramarital affairs.
Fans have taken to social media to discuss the implications of Beyoncé’s updated lyrics, with many speculating about the state of her marriage to Jay-Z.
One person commented:
“Girl how many times has he cheated on you again?”
Another added:
“Changing the lyrics of an iconic song…That man is not WORTH ITTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!”
One other replied:
“He cheated on her so many times and she’s saying this?”
Someone else replied:
“He happily cheated on her, and it sounds like it was a lot too, why is she saying they’ve been in love for twenty years and he stands by her??”
Other fans referenced past incidents, such as the infamous elevator altercation between Beyoncé’s sister Solange and Jay-Z in 2014, as potential evidence of marital discord.
This isn’t the first time rumors of Jay-Z’s infidelity have surfaced.
Following the release of Beyoncé’s 2016 album Lemonade, which contained references to a mysterious “Becky with the good hair,” speculation about Jay-Z’s fidelity reached a fever pitch.
The rapper later addressed the rumors in his own album, 4:44, where he admitted to his past indiscretions.
Despite the renewed interest in her personal life, Beyoncé continues to receive praise for her genre-bending album, Cowboy Carter.
The record has already achieved chart-topping success, with Beyoncé becoming the first Black woman to top the Billboard Country charts with her lead single, “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
Meanwhile, Beyoncé remains focused on her music career, with Cowboy Carter marking the second installment of a trilogy that began with her 2022 album, Renaissance.
