Cardi B went viral after fretting about her kids spending weeks in the Dominican countryside with her dad, claiming they’re too accustomed to their luxury lifestyle to handle “cows, chickens, and mosquitoes.”

The Bronx-born rapper has social media buzzing after getting emotional on camera about her children heading to the Dominican Republic… and not to the part with resorts and room service.

In a candid video shared online, Cardi opened up about her kids traveling to the DR with her father for two or three weeks. But her concern wasn’t about passports or playdates. It was about chickens and cows, with no iPads in sight.

“I’m extremely sad,” Cardi said, visibly emotional. “Because my babies, my babies, are going to the Dominican Republic for two, maybe three, weeks. My dad says he might go for three weeks.”

She went on to explain that her kids, Kulture, 7, Wave, 3, and baby Blossom, wouldn’t be staying in the city, but in a small village of about 400 people. “They’re so spoiled living in this big house. They eat whatever they want. They are going to the country, like a little village where there are cows and chickens in the backyard. And mosquitoes,” she added. “I don’t know if they’re going to be able to get used to it.”

The Grammy-winning artist recalled her own experiences visiting the countryside as a child and admitted she used to hate it for the first week, until she adjusted and started enjoying the slower pace. But fans weren’t so quick to let her off the hook.

Soon after the clip made rounds on X (formerly Twitter), users were divided. Some felt Cardi was just being a protective mama and sharing a relatable concern about her pampered kids facing culture shock. Others accused her of being out of touch and disrespectful toward rural life in her own family’s home country.

“Cardi B talking like her kids are going on a survival trip when it’s literally just the campo,” one user tweeted.

Another said, “We complain when kids don’t know where they come from… and then shame Cardi when she’s sending hers to experience real life.”

Others took a more pointed stance: “Sis, it’s three weeks without a private chef and tablets. They’ll survive.”

Meanwhile, Cardi’s personal life remains as public as ever. She and Offset officially called it quits in December 2023, with Cardi confirming during an Instagram Live, “I’ve been single for a minute now.” She filed for divorce in July 2024 and has since been linked to NFL star Stefon Diggs.
