Da Brat on Her Love for Jesseca ‘Judy’ Dupart: ‘She Made Me Fearless’

by Shine My Crown Staff

Da Brat is overjoyed to introduce us to her new, happy life in her WeTV reality show, “Brat Loves Judy.”

In the show, we see the rapper’s relationship with her fiancee, Jesseca “Judy” Dupart.

Da Brat officially came out as a lesbian last year. In a clip of the show, she shared that she felt she had to keep her sexual identity hidden in order to keep her career.

“People called me all kinds of names,” Da Brat said. “I had to put on a coat of armor and not care. You also learn in this industry that not everyone is going to love you. They will hate on you. As long as you’re happy with yourself, you won’t worry about what others have to say. You should matter first.”

At the time, there were rumors of Da Brat’s sexuality — but she never confirmed them.

“I’ve never been so willing to show my personal life,” Da Brat said. “We can help motivate others in their relationships. That’s what we want to do.”

However, her love for Judy changed everything.

“She made me fearless. I’m proud of my happiness no matter what gender they are. I want people to see real love and pain and vulnerability, the mundane and the salacious.”

In a recent interview, she explains why viewers should tune in.

“What I love about this show is that it’s just us, our people and who we’ve decided to put on our show who have real life situations that people can relate to,” she told HipHopDX. “My friend and little brother for years, Montana, he and his wife were going through a divorce, their relationship is kind of toxic, so you get to see some of that.’

“And we just wanted to put things on there that everyday people go through. Not just the glam and glitz that you see on Instagram, but the love, pain and vulnerable moments.”

“Brat Loves Judy,” 9 p.m. Thursdays, WeTV beginning Aug. 5.
