A Memphis woman who survived a domestic violence attack last year is sharing her ongoing recovery in her own words, drawing widespread support online and shining a spotlight on resilience after abuse.
The survivor, known on TikTok as @prettysecretary3 has been documenting her progress since the 2025 incident in Memphis, where she said she was attacked by her estranged husband after leaving the relationship.

In a recent video, she reflected on the moment that changed her life.
“I left my husband to try to get away from the abuse, but he ended up catching up with me,” she said. “But thankfully, I’m still alive.”
She described how recovery initially felt overwhelming, recalling the physical and emotional toll in the months that followed.
“It was hard at first. It was hard to walk. I thought that I could do everything I used to, but I soon realized I couldn’t even hold myself up,” she explained.
The survivor spent months in rehabilitation learning basic mobility skills again, including how to stand, balance, and use her hands. She said she had to rely heavily on family support while gradually rebuilding strength.
Now, nearly a year later, she is celebrating milestones that once felt impossible.
“Today, I got up by myself, went into the kitchen, and started cooking,” she said. “Before, I couldn’t barely open anything.”
One recent moment with her young daughter, she said, symbolized just how far she has come.
“She asked for a popsicle. Last year I couldn’t open the freezer. But this time, I walked in, opened it, and got it for her,” she said. “That meant everything to me.”
Her videos have drawn strong reactions online, with many viewers praising her courage and perseverance. Advocates say her story underscores both the long-term challenges survivors face and the importance of sustained recovery support.
The survivor says she hopes sharing her journey will help others who are facing abuse or difficult recovery paths.
“I just want people to know I’m progressing,” she said. “I’m still here, and I’m getting stronger every day.”
