Jasmine Crockett Slams Melania Trump’s ‘Einstein Visa’: ‘Doesn’t Take An Einstein To See The Math Ain’t Mathing’

by Gee NY

Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett ignited a firestorm during a House Judiciary hearing this week by sharply criticizing Melania Trump’s immigration path to the United Statesspecifically, the EB-1 “Einstein visa” she received, a program reserved for individuals with “extraordinary ability.”

“Let me remind y’all that Melania, the First Lady, a model — and when I say model, I’m not talking about Tyra Banks, Cindy Crawford, or Naomi Campbell level — applied for and was given an EB-1 visa,” Crockett said on the record. “Last time I checked, the First Lady had none of those accolades under her belt. It doesn’t take an Einstein to see that the math ain’t mathin’ here.”

The EB-1 visa, often referred to as the “Einstein visa,” is typically awarded to immigrants who demonstrate exceptional ability in sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics — often Nobel laureates, Olympic medalists, or Pulitzer Prize winners. Melania Trump, a former fashion model from Slovenia, was granted the visa in 2001.

A Sharp Rebuke of Republican Immigration Rhetoric

Crockett’s comments came as Republicans on the committee pushed for stricter visa regulations, claiming they are necessary to protect U.S. national security. Crockett countered that Republican concern for “visa integrity” is selective and politically motivated.

“Integrity is not snatching lawful visa holders off the streets and throwing them into unmarked vans,” she said. “It’s not revoking visas based on social media posts that hurt somebody’s little feelings.”

She continued:

“Republicans aren’t concerned about integrity when it comes to the president’s family. They’re concerned with punishing immigrants they disagree with.”

MAGA World Reacts with Fury

Conservative media and pro-Trump figures quickly pounced. The New York Post labeled Crockett’s rhetoric “incendiary,” while Fox News aired a prime-time segment with a Republican congressman who declared, “I would never dare question Melania.”

MAGA supporters flooded social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) with accusations of “jealousy” and racism — though they largely avoided defending the merits of Melania Trump’s visa status.

Critics noted the irony of MAGA outrage, pointing out that the same political faction often demands legal immigration and merit-based visa processes — unless, as Crockett implied, the immigrant in question is a wealthy white woman tied to a Republican figure.

The Bigger Picture: Immigration and Double Standards

Crockett’s broader point resonated with progressives: immigration enforcement in the U.S. is often selective and politicized. She warned that GOP proposals to revoke or restrict visas based on subjective criteria, such as political beliefs or social media activity, undermine the very values conservatives claim to defend.

“Visas like the J Visas for higher education and M Visas for trade training attract the next innovators, medical providers, and researchers,” she said. “Republicans are playing political games that hurt our economy, our education system, and our national security.”
