Vice President Kamala Harris invited some of the country’s most influential women in sports to celebrate Women’s History Month. The event, in collaboration with the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF), was hosted to celebrate the contributions of women in history and society.
During the event, Harris spoke about the strength of women, who have valiantly fought to achieve gender parity in the world of sports.
“The work you do every day benefits people regardless of their gender,” Harris said. “My mother would always say, ‘You may be the first, but make sure you are not the last.’ Never let anyone tell you who you are. You tell them who you are. That’s the spirit behind this work.”
Some of the event’s guests included: Scout Bassett, Paralympian & President, Women’s Sports Foundation; Jessica Berman, commissioner, National Women’s Soccer League; Nikki Fargas, president, Las Vegas Aces; Darcie Kassewitz, owner, Tampa Bay Bucaneers; Francie Gottsegen, president, North Carolina Courage; and Renee Montgomery, owner, Atlanta Dream.
