Kirsten Corley has officially filed for divorce from Chance The Rapper.
Chance the Rapper, born Chancelor Bennett’s wife, officially pulled the plug on their marriage just two weeks prior to their sixth wedding anniversary, according to a report from TMZ on Tuesday.
Fans may recall Chance and Kirsten’s heartwarming love story, which spans over a decade. The two met as kids at an event where Chance was reportedly smitten at first sight. Years later, they rekindled their relationship and eventually tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in 2019, surrounded by family and friends.
While their marriage seemed picture-perfect on the outside, recent months sparked speculation about trouble in paradise. Chance, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, has largely kept his personal life private, though glimpses of their relationship have occasionally been shared on social media.
Chance and Kirsten announced their separation back in April after last year’s saga when Bennett went viral for a video at Jamaica’s Carnival. He was briefly seen dancing with a woman and smacking her butt. Not long after, Corley posted a Maya Angelo passage about people who “don’t grow up,” which some perceived to be aimed at Chance The Rapper. Later that month, the couple were reportedly said to be “all good.”
“After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways,” the two shared on their separate Instagram Stories at the time. “We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition. Thank you.”
As reported by TMZ, Kirsten submitted the legal documents on Friday. The married pair, who wed in 2019 in Newport Beach, California, have two daughters; 9-year-old Kensli and 5-year-old Marli.
It is unclear if Kirsten Corley is requesting spousal support or child support from Chance, whose estimated net worth is $25 million, since the court documents could not be accessed online.
Chance the Rapper has not posted anything regarding the divorce on his page.
