OG RHOA fans will be pleased to learn that Nene Leakes is finally returning to television with her own show!
After a much-anticipated break, Nene Leakes, the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star, is making a grand return to the reality TV scene.
This time, she’s teaming up with Lifetime for a show that promises to be a thrilling departure from the norm- Outrageous Love with Nene Leakes.
In April 2022, after announcing her departure from the RHOA, Leakes filed a lawsuit against NBCUniversal, Bravo, production companies True Entertainment and Truly Original, and executive producer Andy Cohen over working conditions.
Leakes went on to assert that the company’s lack of diversity in its corporate structure has contributed to insensitivities towards people of color, alleging that the Real Housewives franchise is “racially segregated” and criticizing their treatment of diverse show stars.
A few months later, in August, she dropped the lawsuit, and all parties parted ways.
A year after Nene Leakes dropped the suit, she opened up about why she had to leave the show during an interview with Carlos King on Reality with the King.
Leakes revealed the circumstances that led to her departure, stating that she felt she was being phased out for Season 13 of the reality series. She was only offered six episodes, which she believed was unfair. The former Bravo star questioned how they could tell she was unhappy, and if anything, what made her unhappy was that her episode count was reduced on a season-ending with 21 episodes.
New Beginnings for Nene Leakes’ Outrageous Love will depart from the traditional reality TV format fans are accustomed to seeing Nene in. Rather than focusing on her own life, this series will explore the lives and relationships of others.
The reality star will host “Outrageous Love With Nene Leakes,” which premieres on July 1 at 10 p.m. ET. This series, produced by Anomaly Entertainment, will follow the ups and downs of couples’ love lives, with commentary from Leakes.
Nene Leakes will also draw on her personal experiences to offer additional insights.
