The new romance appears to mean the Get It Girl star has healed from scars in her past.

In an episode of Kevin Hart’s Hart to Heart YouTube series, Saweetie talked about the loneliness she experienced growing up because of her parents’ heavy workload.

“They would work a lot. I was always being babysat by the people, meaning people in my family. And then the opportunity, when it presented itself, I went away to college, went to San Diego State, then to USC,” she said. “I’ve been independent for a really long time. I was a kid, like, in third or fourth grade, I had a key to my house, and I would walk home, and I would do my homework. I would clean the dishes. I would make my food. I’ve been independent for a really long time.”

But with all other things in life, time heals all wounds. She says the bond between her and her parents has strengthened following the pandemic.

We just got close – I would say last year,” she acknowledged, adding that her newfound relationship with them has brought her peace and comfort. She also mentioned how important meditation and mindfulness have been in helping her cope with the everyday stresses of being a celebrity.

Born Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper in Santa Clara California, Saweetie rose to fame after the release of her debut single “Icy Girl” in 2018. She then released her extended play “High Maintenance, followed by her second EP, “Icy” which debuted on numerous musical charts. In 2021, she received two nominations for the 64th Annual Grammy Awards including one for Best New Artist. She has also been nominated for awards at the MTV Music Video Awards, the People’s Choice Awards and the BET Awards.
