Rep. Jasmine Crockett Targeted in Laura Loomer’s Racist Slur After Calling Out White Lawmakers

by Gee NY

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) has become the latest target of a racist attack from far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, after the congresswoman spoke candidly about racial dynamics in Congress surrounding a resolution to honor late conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The controversy began after Crockett appeared on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, Sept. 21, where she expressed frustration that only two white Democrats opposed the House resolution memorializing Kirk, who was fatally shot earlier this month. The resolution passed on Friday, Sept. 19, with opposition coming primarily from Black and Brown lawmakers.

“It hurts my heart that we have ghetto Black b*s who hate America serving in Congress,” Loomer said on her show and posted on X (formerly Twitter) in direct response to Crockett’s remarks. She posted the slur alongside a clip of Crockett’s CNN appearance.

Crockett’s Criticism of Racial Divide in Congress

On CNN, Crockett argued that the near-universal support among white Democrats for the resolution revealed a deeper racial divide in the House, particularly when honoring figures like Kirk, whose political rhetoric was often criticized as exclusionary.

Crockett noted that while 58 Democrats voted against the resolution, nearly all were lawmakers of color. Only Reps. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) and Mike Quigley (D-Ill.)—both white—opposed it.

Her pointed observation quickly made waves online, sparking discussion about how lawmakers navigate racial identity, political allegiance, and public memory when casting votes on symbolic measures.

Loomer’s Racist Remark Draws Outrage

Loomer’s language triggered immediate backlash, with critics condemning her statement as part of a long pattern of racist vitriol targeting Black women in politics. Many argued that Loomer’s slur only underscored the very inequities Crockett sought to highlight.

Civil rights advocates and political commentators stressed that the attack was not just a personal insult, but part of a broader trend of Black women in public office facing disproportionate racial and gendered harassment.

Crockett’s Rising Voice in Congress

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a first-term Democrat representing Texas’ 30th Congressional District, has quickly emerged as one of the most outspoken progressive voices in Washington. Known for her sharp legal background and unflinching style in House hearings, Crockett has been at the forefront of debates on race, justice, and accountability.

Supporters say Crockett’s willingness to challenge uncomfortable truths in Congress is precisely why she is singled out by far-right figures like Loomer.

Broader Context

The attack comes at a moment when political tensions around race and representation are running high in Congress. Symbolic resolutions like the one honoring Kirk often reveal stark divides—not only along party lines, but within the Democratic caucus itself.

While Crockett has not yet issued a direct public response to Loomer’s slur, the incident is already fueling wider conversations about racism in politics, the treatment of Black women in positions of power, and the responsibility of lawmakers to call out extremist rhetoric.
