Award-winning filmmaker and activist, Brittany Chrishawn, is set to unveil her latest project, “Unbroken Smile,” a documentary chronicling her journey through adversity following a traumatic encounter with police brutality.
In May 2020, Chrishawn survived a harrowing incident of police violence when five officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) wrongfully assaulted her, leaving her with severe injuries, including broken teeth and nerve damage.
Her relentless pursuit of justice not only exposed the officers’ misconduct but also led to the arrest of one officer and uncovered further instances of sexual misconduct within the department.
To bring her powerful story to the screen, Chrishawn has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the post-production of “Unbroken Smile.”
Backers of the campaign will have the opportunity to receive exclusive rewards, ranging from digital downloads to private screenings, while supporting a project that aims to shed light on systemic injustices and advocate for change.
The documentary seeks to raise awareness about police misconduct and the challenges faced by individuals navigating an unjust justice system.
Through compelling storytelling, “Unbroken Smile” aims to inspire audiences to demand accountability and reform.
The Kickstarter campaign will run for 60 days, starting on June 10, 2024, and concluding on August 9, 2024.
Supporters are encouraged to visit the campaign page on Kickstarter.com to learn more and contribute to the project’s success.
As Chrishawn continues her legal battle and civil lawsuit against the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the involved officers, she remains committed to seeking justice and healing.
