Brandy, the Grammy-winning singer, actress, and cultural icon, is preparing to release her much-anticipated memoir this fall.
The currently untitled book will offer a rare glimpse into the personal and professional life of the star, detailing her journey from a small-town girl in McComb, Mississippi, to an entertainment powerhouse.
A Reflection of a Lifetime
In an exclusive interview with People, Brandy shared that her memoir will delve into pivotal moments of her life.
Fans can expect stories from her early days as a child singing in church, to releasing her debut self-titled album at just 15, and breaking barriers as the first Black actress to play a Disney princess in the 1997 remake of Cinderella.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Brandy described the writing process as both challenging and rewarding.
“I allowed myself the space to be fearless and vulnerable to reveal some of my most intimate moments,” she wrote. “For the first time, I am sharing my story—honest, unfiltered, and not through the lens of media or critics.”
Behind the Spotlight
Brandy also opened up about the struggles that accompanied her success.
“From starring as Moesha to touring the world, I’ve experienced unforgettable highs. But what you didn’t see were the struggles behind the scenes, the trials that tested my spirit and shaped the woman I am today,” she shared.
The memoir promises to offer readers an authentic account of her life, highlighting her resilience and the lessons learned through fame, loss, and rediscovery.
A Memoir with Purpose
Set to release on Oct. 7, 2025, through Hanover Square Press, the memoir is already available for preorder. Brandy hopes her story will inspire readers to reflect on their own journeys.
“This memoir is more than a book; it’s a reflection of resilience, hope, and rediscovering myself beyond the fame, the music, and the spotlight,” she wrote.
With decades of experience in music, television, and film, Brandy’s memoir promises to be a compelling read for fans and newcomers alike.
