In a shocking revelation, the daughter of legendary actor John Amos, Shannon Amos, has revealed that she only learned of her father’s death through media reports months after the tragic event, which was preceded by an elder abuse case leveled against his son, K.C. Amos.

Shannon set up a GoFundMe page for her father last June, when he was 83, claiming he was a victim of “elderly abuse.” However, the page was later removed after John and his son, K.C. Amos, stated that the claims were false and Shannon was the perpetrator of the abuse.

According to TMZ, Shannon contacted Adult Protective Services, and the APS referred the case to the LAPD, which launched an investigation. On Monday, April 8, the investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Shannon Amos and her management team issued a statement to TV Insider, expressing dissatisfaction with the investigation’s findings. This comes after the LAPD stated that they found no evidence that John was the victim of elder abuse.

“While I acknowledge the efforts of the LAPD on my father’s case, I am disappointed with their conclusion since no one from my family has seen or spoken to my father since July 2023, when K.C. Amos, Eugene Brummet, and Belinda Foster removed him from a medical facility against doctors’ orders,” Shannon said.

On Tuesday, October 2, 2024, the ROOTS actor’s son shared that his father died in August 2024, at the age of 84, from natural causes.

However, according to his sister, she was unaware of her father’s passing. Shannon Amos disclosed that those involved in her father’s care did not inform her of his passing.

Shortly after the news was revealed, she posted a video of them together on Instagram while expressing her profound grief.

“I am without words,” she began her caption. “Our family has received the heartbreaking news that my Dad, John Allen Amos, Jr., transitioned on August 21. We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago. We are learning about it through the media like so many of you.”

“This should be a time of honoring and celebrating his life,” she continued. “Yet we are struggling to navigate the wave of emotions and uncertainties surrounding his passing. Still, there is some semblance of peace in knowing my father is finally free.”

Shannon Amos concluded by asking for continued prayers for the family.
