Sondra Sutton Phung, General Manager at Global Truck for Ford Motor Company, delivered an inspiring message of confidence and perseverance during the 2025 ForbesBLK Summit in Atlanta, Georgia.
The top-notch executive urged Black women in leadership to silence self-doubt and fully embrace their potential.
Speaking backstage in a video shared by @Forbes, Sutton Phung reflected on her own journey as a Black woman in corporate America, encouraging others to reject insecurity and own their excellence.
“Don’t ever feel, especially as a woman, especially as a Black woman, that you are not good enough,” she said. “Forget about all of that — you’re smart enough, you’re ready, and just go for it.”
The Ford executive, who is also a proud graduate of Clark Atlanta University, drew inspiration from her alma mater’s powerful motto: “Find a way or make one.”
She told attendees that the phrase remains a guiding principle in her life and career.
“We can find a way, we can make it, and we just need to go for whatever it is we’re trying to achieve,” she said. “It’s achievable.”
The ForbesBLK Summit, held annually, celebrates the achievements and influence of Black professionals and entrepreneurs shaping industries across business, technology, entertainment, and innovation.
This year’s event placed a special emphasis on leadership, resilience, and redefining success within the Black community.
