Activist Angel Carmell Warns MAGA Base Amid Looming SNAP Cuts: ‘If They’ll Cut Programs That Feed Your Kids, They Will Cut You’

by Gee NY

Angel Carmell (@angelcarmell), a grassroots activist known for candid, comment-laden videos, has gone viral for her sharp indictment of the looming federal cuts to food-assistance programs.

In a post shared to Instagram, Carmell addressed a broad audience with a blunt warning:

“The felon president got up there and said with his whole entire chest, we are shutting down Democrat programs we never wanted and they’re not coming back… The counties with the highest food-assistance use, most of them vote Republican… So when he says he’s cutting Democrat programs, ladies and gentlemen, baby he’s not talking to Democrats only. He’s talking to you.”

The commentary comes as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that it would not tap contingency funds to cover Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for November 2025, potentially leaving more than 40 million Americans without access to their food assistance cards beginning on November 1.

The cuts are also expected to affect Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

A Voice from the Ground

Carmell’s message hits home because it moves past partisan talking points into the lived reality of everyday families. She says the shutdown is less about party loyalty and more about survival—an “empty cabinets vs. full fridge” scenario where people of all political stripes could lose the safety nets they rely on.

“The message is serious,” remarked one food-security advocate. “This is not just about Republican districts or Democratic households—it’s about livelihoods. When your benefits stop, you don’t have the luxury of political categorization.”

Legal and Policy Implications

From a legal perspective, the upcoming SNAP cutoff raises urgent questions about statutory obligations and administrative discretion. The USDA has declared its contingency funds cannot legally extend regular benefits, warning states they will not be reimbursed if they cover the gap themselves. ([Reuters][2]) Several states have already filed lawsuits challenging the USDA’s stance.

Those lawsuits highlight a broader tension: Congress carries the power to fund federal programs, but when it fails to act, it is low-income families, not lawmakers, who bear the consequences.

Where That Leaves Families

For families who rely on monthly EBT benefits to buy groceries, and for older adults depending on WIC for nutrition, Carmell’s viral post is less rallying cry than urgent wake-up call.

“If they will cut programs that feed your children, if they will cut programs that keep your elders breathing, they will cut you, baby,” she added.

Her message unveils an important truth: existing social-safety nets carry no guarantee in a political stalemate. According to Carmell, the surrogate language of “Democrat programs” obscures the fact that many users of these services live in Republican-leaning states.

The Larger Picture

Analysts warn that this standoff could spark a crisis deeper than delayed benefits: food banks are already overwhelmed, and governors in several states are declaring emergencies to back-stop federal cuts.

The situation may also deepen distrust in government: if services meant to shield vulnerable populations falter when politics dominate, what does that mean for future support programs?

Carmell’s post, raw and unfiltered, captures a growing frustration: the sense that politics has trumped people’s needs.
