Former Adult Film Performer Speaks Out About Alleged Teen Trafficking, Calls for Greater Support for Survivors

A woman who says she was forced into prostitution as a teenager is sharing her story publicly in an effort to raise awareness about human trafficking and the challenges survivors face when trying to rebuild their lives.

The woman, who identified herself as Brittany and said she formerly worked in the adult film industry under the name Monroe Sweets, described her experience in a video message where she discussed her past and her recent advocacy work on behalf of sex workers and trafficking survivors.

Allegations of Trafficking as a Teen

In the video, Brittany said she was kidnapped at age 15 in Nashville and forced into prostitution. She said the experience shaped much of her life and influenced her later involvement in the adult entertainment industry.

“I was 15 when I was forced into prostitution,” she said, adding that she has spent the past several years trying to rebuild her life after leaving the industry.

According to Brittany, she has been retired from adult film work for more than four years and has spent the past two and a half years advocating for the rights and support of sex workers and survivors of trafficking.

Advocacy Efforts

Now living in Atlanta, Brittany said she has attempted to raise awareness about trafficking through interviews and documentary projects, including appearances with independent media outlets such as the “Unfiltered Stories” documentary series and the “Break Free Podcast.”

She said she hopes her story helps shed light on the realities faced by some trafficking survivors and the long-term impact such experiences can have on their lives.

During the video, Brittany also described challenges she says she has faced while trying to gain support for her advocacy work, including financial barriers and stigma tied to her past in the adult entertainment industry.

Challenges Facing Survivors

Advocates and researchers say survivors of human trafficking often face significant hurdles after leaving exploitative situations, including limited education opportunities, financial instability, and social stigma.

Brittany said she left school after the ninth grade and believes that lack of formal education can create additional obstacles for survivors trying to become advocates or public speakers.

Despite these challenges, she said she remains committed to speaking out about exploitation and helping others understand the realities behind trafficking.

Broader Awareness

Human trafficking remains a major global issue, with organizations such as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime reporting that millions of people worldwide are victims of forced labor or sexual exploitation.

Advocates say survivor testimony can play a critical role in educating the public and shaping policies aimed at preventing trafficking and supporting those who escape it.

Brittany said her goal is to ensure that the experiences of survivors are not ignored and that people better understand the lasting consequences of exploitation.
