Black Women-Owned Eyewear Firm Partners With 2nd Largest Optical Retailer For Exclusive Black History Month Frame Collection

by Gee NY

National Vision, Inc., the second-largest optical retailer in the United States, has announced a special collaboration with Vontélle Eyewear, a women and Black-owned eyewear company.

The deal will enable Vontélle Eyewear to bring style and representation to eyewear for an exclusive frame collection in celebration of Black History Month.

The limited-edition Official by Vontélle frames will be available at all 900+ America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses retail locations, marking the first time Vontélle frames will be accessible on the shelves of a nationwide retailer.

This collaboration not only provides eyeglass wearers with an opportunity to support the emerging women and Black-owned business during Black History Month but also increases accessibility to Vontélle’s signature better-fitting frames.

Vontélle frames are crafted to complement diverse faces, featuring wider nose bridges, longer temples, and larger lenses to ensure a comfortable fit. The Official by Vontélle collection includes 15 frames with vibrant, bold designs for both men and women.

Megan Molony, Senior Vice President at National Vision, emphasized the importance of eyeglasses reflecting individuality, stating:

“Glasses are not meant to hide who you are and should instead be a reflection and celebration of everything that makes you unique. We chose Vontélle for this collaboration because they share our passion for empowering eyeglass wearers to showcase their culture and personality through their eyewear.”

The frames in the collection are named after notable African American figures who have made significant contributions throughout history in various fields.

The co-founders of Vontélle, both HBCU alumnae who met at Morgan State University, designed the frames with rich design elements reflecting sorority and fraternity colors.

Nancey Harris, co-founder of Vontélle, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating:

“Our products are designed to celebrate our cultural history, and we are so excited to make our frames available to even more customers through this Official collection with America’s Best.”

The Official by Vontélle frames will be available for purchase at America’s Best retail locations and online starting Feb. 1, while supplies last.
