For the umpteenth time, Coi Leray publicly severs her relationship with her father, Benzino. This latest outburst follows a Benzino’s demonstration calling for the release of R. Kelly from prison.
He swore allegiance to Kelly, saying the convicted singer should be given another chance. Benzino cited the fact that one of Kelly’s victims was only a few years younger than the legal age limit and that R Kelly had permission from the young woman’s parents.
Benzino’s penchant for provocative statements may have finally taken its toll on his relationship with his daughter, Coi Leray.
The former editor of The Source Magazine’s viral comments on the ‘We in Miami Podcast’, where he questioned why R. Kelly is doing so much time in prison for sex crimes against minors and said the embattled singer deserves a second chance, has reignited a family feud.
This was the last straw for Benzino’s daughter, Coi Leray, who publicly denounced their relationship.
On Wednesday (May 1), Coi Leray aired out her resentment of her estranged father’s shocking R Kelly remarks on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I want everybody to know I want nothing to do with anything my father has going on. I haven’t spoken to him in over a year, and I don’t condone or respect any of the interviews he has going on. I don’t respect his decisions, and I really want nothing to do with him. Please don’t even think of me when you see him,” she tweeted.
She added, “Sharing the same DNA and blood DOESN’T make us FAMILY. Loyalty, boundaries, respect, teaching, guidance, love, patience, and encouragement MAKES US FAMILY. I can’t wait to have a kid one day. I can’t wait to look her/him in the eye and tell them how much I love them.”
But Coi Leray’s relationship with her father, Benzino, has been challenging.
In 2022, Cori accused Benzino of threatening her and her mother because she believed he was broke. She stood up for Eminem the same year Benzino attacked the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for inducting Shady.
Whether the rift between Leray and Benzino can be healed is still to be seen.
