Donald Trump has accused a Georgia prosecutor of being a “racist” and having an “affair” with a gang leader, according to remarks he made at a rally just days before he is scheduled to face a criminal indictment from her office.
There has been no evidence of the three-times indicted former president’s claims about Fani Willis, who is the lead investigator in the case of his conduct in Georgia during the 2020 presidential election.
The married mother of two children is soon expected to indict Trump for illegally trying to reverse Joe Biden’s victory in the state, which played a role in Biden’s race to the White House.
“There’s a young racist in Atlanta … They say she was after a certain gang and she ended up having an affair with the head of the gang or a gang member,” Trump said at a New Hampshire rally Tuesday. “This is a person who wants to indict me. She’s got a lot of problems. But she wants to indict me to try and run for some other office … Wants to indict me for a perfect phone call, this was even better than my perfect call on Ukraine.”
He continued: “I challenged the election in Georgia, which I had every right to do… and they want to indict me because I challenged the election.”
On Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, he posted a Rolling Stone feature about Willis defending YSL Mondo, and falsely accused her of “hiding a relationship with a gang member she was prosecuting.”
No evidence has surfaced that the claims are true, Rolling Stone reported at the time.
Trump has been indicted on federal charges claiming he attempted to overturn the 2020 election and allegations he paid a porn star to keep quiet about an affair he had while his wife was nursing their newborn son. He also faces another federal case accusing him of retaining government documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
