GloRilla is setting the record straight on her alleged “beef” with fellow rapper JT, and she blames fans for exaggerating the situation.
The alleged drama between GloRilla and JT started at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. YouTuber Armon Wiggins claimed the two had a confrontation backstage after a verbal dispute. JT allegedly rebuffed her. Glo then reportedly got violent and sent a drink, a hand, or a purse flying JT’s way.
Although JT strongly refuted the claims, GloRilla did not confirm or deny the rumors.
At first, there were indications that these rumors were unfounded. However, since then, the two have traded some serious insults via Twitter. Beyond that, they’ve made even more serious threats to one another.
To clarify things further, GloRilla’s album Ehhthang Ehhthang, which came out on April 5, features the track “Aite.” In the song’s lyrics, GloRilla talks about her situation with JT, mentioning, “Me and JT aren’t the closest of friends, but there’s no conflict between us.”
But that didn’t end there. On April 5, JT made a tweet accusing Glo of perpetuating a false story through her music and playing into the rumors for publicity when she “…released a song about slapping b*tches…” only to follow it up with “Aite,” and “…now it’s female unity??CORNY!!!!”
GloRilla responded by fiercely defending her song in a series of tweets that have since been deleted. “Hoe, shut your dumb ass up and fix those glass wigs. I said it ain’t no beef with you, the one with the secret animosity,” she began. She quickly followed up with another tweet that read, “I mentioned your name to clear the air; what you wanted me to say was that I didn’t slap you but with a purse instead?? “Scary ass ho.”
Now GloRilla is clearing the air and pointing fingers at social media users for hyping her issues with JT.
During a conversation about her debut album, GLORIOUS, with Ebro Darden from Apple Music, the rapper admitted that there wasn’t any real conflict with the former City Girls member.
“Me and JT are actually cool,” Glo revealed. From there, Ebro brought up the idea of fans fueling rumors of a beef where none actually exists. “That’s kind of the situation that we had. It was the fans. It was super unnecessary, it was really fueled by the fans. And I see that with other artists. The fans always try,” she said.
Unfortunately, many were not enthused by GloRilla’s blame-shifting as they called her out for her lack of accountability.
“girl the North remembers how you went along with the narrative of slapping JT @ the VMAs & when she brought it up cause you mentioned it in your mixtape, you started throwing shots.. but ofc everyone wants to make JT the villain,” a fan commented.
Another added, “I love ya, Glo, but blaming the “fans” is a cop-out. The fans didn’t even know that you and JT had an altercation backstage at the awards show months prior. Y’all brought that out on Twitter after JT responded to a random fan regarding the Yeah Glo lyrics. Stand on what y’all say! “
