DDG is pulling out all the stops to block Halle Bailey from taking their infant son, Halo, to Italy, claiming she’s an “imminent emotional and psychological risk” to their child.

Alleged text messages have been unsealed, revealing Halle Bailey telling DDG, “I want to die because of you,” after she apparently caught him cheating. Now DDG is using these very same messages to accuse Halle of being an “emotional and psychological risk” to their son, Halo.
The legal fight between the former couple intensified this week, with DDG filing a petition for sole custody of their young child, Halo. In this filing, DDG has made some seriously concerning claims about Bailey. As part of his restraining order filing, he’s shared alleged text exchanges that are now circulating widely online. These messages, unveiled on Wednesday (June 4), are part of DDG’s accusations that The Little Mermaid star exhibited “growing hostility” regarding his “professional collaborations with other women” and a “fixation” on his previous relationships.
The alleged messages show Bailey accusing DDG, whose birth name is Darryl Granberry Jr., of cheating and, get this, even evading taking care of their son on multiple occasions. In one text from March 21 of last year (2024), Bailey reportedly wrote that she “found out” about DDG having an affair in Mexico with “Lala,” presumably influencer Lala Baptiste. The two, Lala and DDG, have indeed been seen collaborating on content across various social media platforms.
On that same day, Bailey allegedly accused DDG of not caring about her or Halo. DDG’s shocking reply? “You want to kill yourself because I tweeted sexy red is a good rapper? This literally makes no sense”.
In the court documents, DDG alleges that Halle made repeated threats of self-harm and suicide and used “emotional coercion and manipulation” throughout their relationship to “exert her control” over him. DDG also claimed that on March 21, 2024, Halle threatened suicide before attempting to drive while emotionally distressed with the child in the car. He says he was so worried for Halo’s safety that he reached out to Halle’s godmother for help. He also alleges she sent similar threatening messages in September and November 2024.
The alleged text interaction took an even darker turn, with Bailey reportedly begging DDG to take Halo and accusing her then-boyfriend of wanting her to “die.” DDG’s chilling reply was, “I’m genuinely scared of you, man. I feel like you’re gonna kill me in my sleep one day.” The two would then break up seven months later.
According to court documents, DDG claims that Halle even threatened her life with his gun, which she allegedly took following a “particularly volatile” argument in August 2023. “Without my consent, she took the weapon and left the house,” read the court docs.
But amidst all these serious allegations, several fans online are still firmly on Halle’s side. Many are pointing out that her alleged emotional state could be a reaction to being cheated on, especially if she were going through postpartum depression. “DDG showing Halle’s reaction to him mentally and emotionally abusing her while she was pregnant/going through postpartum says a lot more about him than her,” one fan wrote. Another commented, “All them messages show was that Halle has PPD, and it was BECAUSE OF DDG.” And a third added, “A woman going through postpartum depression and having thoughts of suicide isn’t a ‘gotcha’ moment. DDG evidence does not prove anything. If anything, it shows that Halle was BEGGING for help, and he REFUSED to help her and continued to harm her”.
Of course, there’s also the counter-argument: “You lot were quick to label DDG an abuser without solid proof, but once he dropped his evidence proving Halle is mentally unstable and the aggressor.. you all finding excuses for her SMH”.
