Kayla Nicole has finally revealed why she chose not to speak publicly about her former relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and the online abuse she has received from his new girlfriend, Taylor Swift’s, fans.
Nicole, who dated Kelce on and off for five years before his relationship with Swift, answered questions about her ex-boyfriend on the most recent episode of WNBA star Angel Reese’s ‘Unapologetically Angel’ podcast.
Among many other revelations, the 32-year-old fitness influencer explained why Travis’ new relationship with Taylor means they can no longer speak if they see each other in public, as well as how vile social media abuse from ‘Swifties’ has affected her.
Kayla Nicole told Angel Reese that Kelce would not receive even a friendly “hello” if she saw him in public. Though no names were mentioned, the “new situation” most likely refers to his public relationship with global superstar Taylor Swift.
Though their romance is long over, Kelce received harsh criticism from Swift fans when she and the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker revealed their relationship in September 2023.
Travis Kelce laid the groundwork last July when he expressed his feelings for Taylor Swift after missing out on one-on-one time with her when she performed in his hometown of Missouri. Soon after, the pop star began attending NFL games, openly cheering for the Chiefs, and going out on date nights with Kelce in New York City.
“I would be lying if I said that that level of hate (from Swift’s fans) and just like online chaos doesn’t impact me, it does. Even to this day,” Nicole said.
Nicole said she still receives hate from Swift fans to this day.
She continued, “Oh yeah, you could go to my most recent post, and it will be people debating with each other why I am worthless, and I’ll never be a talented person, and I have no career, and I’m a bum.”
Nicole thinks she gets hateful comments because “It has nothing to do with me. I don’t know, I think there is something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people, and it’s unfortunate because I’ve never done anything to warrant that kind of backlash.”
Travis Kelce and Kayla Nicole dated on and off between 2017 and 2022. Nicole described Kelce as a “great guy” but stated that she would not make her relationships public again.
