Megan Thee Stallion is set to make Broadway history as the first female rapper to star in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, marking a major new chapter in her already record-breaking career.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper, songwriter, and actor will make her Broadway debut next month in the Tony-winning production. The announcement was made official on Thursday, Feb. 26, confirming that the Houston native will take on the role of Harold Zidler, described in a press release as the impresario of the famed nightclub at the center of the show.

Megan’s limited eight-week run is scheduled from March 24 through May 17 at the historic Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City. Her casting marks the first time a female-identifying performer will play Zidler in the global performance history of the production.

In a statement, Megan expressed enthusiasm about stepping into the theater world. “Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor,” she said. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively, and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace. Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation, and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.”

Producers also underscored the significance of the casting. Carmen Pavlovic called the move a “thrilling moment” for the production, describing Megan as one of the most influential artists of her generation. Pavlovic noted that the historic casting serves as a major highlight in the show’s closing celebrations and described it as one of the biggest announcements in the musical’s history.

She added that audiences can expect a nod to Megan’s own music during the run, calling it an unmissable moment for both her fans and longtime supporters of the Broadway hit.

Tickets for her run are available at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre box office and through the official Moulin Rouge! The Musical website.
