In a historic move for television, Myeshia Mizuno has become the first Black woman to lead a prime-time game show, taking the helm of the iconic Family Feud as Showrunner and Executive Producer.

Mizuno will oversee both the regular and celebrity versions of the show, marking a significant milestone in TV history.

“It’s daunting, but definitely what I’m up for,” Mizuno told Variety. “It’s a well-built machine, but coming in and adding some oil to the spokes is how I look at it.”

Mizuno brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having worked on notable productions such as Judge Judy and ABC’s revival of Supermarket Sweep.

Her diverse background in TV production positions her to bring a fresh perspective to Family Feud while honoring its rich legacy.

As part of her vision for the show, Mizuno plans to introduce new prize offerings, including vacation packages, and create a cozy backstage area for celebrity contestants. These enhancements aim to elevate the show’s appeal and continue to delight audiences.

Steve Harvey, the show’s charismatic host, has expressed confidence in Mizuno’s abilities, noting how seamlessly she has integrated into the program.

Harvey and Mizuno have previously collaborated on ABC’s Emmy-nominated Judge Steve Harvey, which has further solidified their professional rapport.

The upcoming season of Celebrity Family Feud promises an exciting lineup of stars, including Megan Thee Stallion, Ne-Yo, and various sports figures.

Notable matchups will feature Meghan Trainor vs. Tori Kelly and a special Golden Bachelor face-off.

Mizuno’s appointment is not only a personal achievement but also a significant step forward in television representation and innovation.

“To be the first Black woman to run a primetime network game show is huge,” Mizuno said. “And not just any game show, but an iconic franchise at that! I’m very appreciative of it. I don’t know why it has taken such a long time, but I’m happy to know that it’s now a genre that has been cracked open for someone like me to be a part of it.”

With Mizuno at the helm, Family Feud is set to continue its legacy of entertaining audiences while breaking new ground in the television industry.
