Wendy Williams made a rare appearance at her son Kevin Hunter Jr.’s college graduation, defying claims that she was “permanently incapacitated.”
The ex-queen of daytime talk programs gathered with her family to honor her son Kevin Hunter Jr. as he graduated from college. Wendy Williams was seen at the graduation event for Florida International University’s Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs in Miami on Thursday, December 19.
Dressed to impress, Wendy sported a sparkly, low-cut silver dress paired with black boots, a bold “W” necklace, and her signature glamorous flair. Adding to her unmistakable style, she arrived in a motorized scooter that she had customized perfectly. The sleek vehicle featured a cup holder with Louis Vuitton monograms and a front pouch adorned with Chanel motifs, seamlessly blending practicality with high-end fashion.
The former host of the Wendy Williams Show withdrew from the public eye in 2022 due to several health concerns. In February, Williams disclosed that she had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.
The event marks Wendy Williams’ first official appearance following the confirmation that her health has progressively worsened over the last year. In a court document, Wendy’s guardian stated that she…” has been afflicted by early-onset dementia and, as a result, has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.
The TV host has largely remained away from the public eye since concluding her show in 2022, although she and Kevin went to a holistic wellness store in her home state of New Jersey on August 19.
Wendy Williams, who was married to Kevin Hunter from 1999 until 2020, has talked about her connection with her son, describing herself as an “old-fashioned” mom. In 2015, she shared her thoughts with Yahoo Parenting.
“Myson’s a nice boy. He’s very mannerable. Everyone who meets him says he’s so respectful. He has his jerkish ways but doesn’t do anything to warrant full-blown punishment. Also, my husband and I only have one—one and done—so it’s really easy to keep tabs. He’s outnumbered.”
In February 2024, Kevin, who generally keeps a low profile, stepped back into public view by featuring in the trailer for Where is Wendy Williams?, a Lifetime documentary focusing on Wendy’s life and health following the end of her talk show. He voiced his worries about his mother’s health and her potential to come back to television.
