Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history and a passionate “foodie,” is expanding her impressive list of achievements by stepping into the restaurant industry.

The Olympic champion announced plans to open a Tex-Mex restaurant, named Taste of Gold, at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in her hometown of Spring, Texas, set to debut in early 2025.

A Culinary Celebration of Success

Taste of Gold promises to offer “vibrant, bold flavors of world-class and elevated Tex-Mex cuisine.”

The name is a nod to Biles’ unparalleled medal-winning career, reflecting her commitment to excellence both in athletics and now in dining. Currently under construction, the restaurant will be located inside Terminal A near Gate A8 at IAH.

“I am a foodie at heart, and our hope with Taste of Gold is to offer a beautiful Tex-Mex dining experience that features award-winning, signature menu items with some of my favorite flavors sprinkled in for our guests,” Biles said in a statement.

Partnerships for Excellence

Biles is collaborating with several notable partners for this venture, including veteran restaurateur Mark Brezinski and the Playmakers Group, a company known for its celebrity- and athlete-themed airport dining experiences.

The goal is to provide travelers with a “five-star experience” characterized by exceptional service and dishes that celebrate Houston as a premier culinary destination.

A promotional mural for the restaurant features an image of Biles performing a tumble in front of an American flag, signaling her pride in both her heritage and the project.

Recently, after her successful performance at the Paris Olympics, she visited Stick Talk Cajun-Hibachi in Midtown, highlighting her support for local restaurants.

With her background as a champion athlete and her culinary passion, this venture is sure to resonate with both locals and travelers.
